“Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani”, directed by filmmaker Ayan Mukerji celebrated ten years of its release on the 31st of May and fans all across social media posted about the nostalgia the film brought along with it. The film’s exceptional soundtrack with songs like “Kabira” that still play in our hearts and dialogues like “Main udna chahta hun, daudna chahta hun. Girna bhi chahta hun. Bas, rukna nahi chahta” (I want to fly, run, and also fall, I just don’t want to stop), that are quoted endlessly by fans of the film, were fondly remembered online. 10 years of the film passed by in a jiffy but the characters still stay in our hearts.
The 2013 film follows the story of 4 friends, Bunny, Naina, Aditi, and Avi, and how a small trek to Manali transformed their lives and their relationship with one another. They reunite after 7 years at Aditi’s wedding at Udaipur, with every one living a different life, with some holes to fill in their hearts. Bunny who loves to travel needs to figure out how his issues with committing to people and staying in one place are making him lose a ton of other things, and his relationship with Naina and his best friends Aditi and Avi help him understand that.
The thrill of travel, their adventures together, and the different ways each character is portrayed and each character develops, resonated in the hearts of the public and is another major reason why people hold this film so close to their hearts.
