The train derailed and collided in Odisha, becoming the worst-hit accident of the century

Odisha Train accident : At least 295 people and 1,175 people have been injured In a train accident involving 3 trains. The Coromandel express ran off track and collided with goods train that was parked in the adjoining loop track. Just five minutes after the collision of trains, Bengaluru- Howrah Super fast Express coming from another direction Banged into the derailed coaches.

A terrific train disaster struck in Odisha near the Balasore district on Friday evening. As per reports, it was due to a clash of three trains becoming a catastrophic nightmare of train clashes ever.

How this accident took place?

The Coromandel Express,15 compartment train that was heading towards its destination Chennai by its allocated time. However, it ran off-track near Bahanaga Bazar station around 6.55 pm, leaving the passengers upended on the adjoining track.

The Coromandel Express was supposed to pass on the Mainline (route towards Chennai). Just adjoining were two loop tracks on both sides, on which one good train was parked. The Coromandel smashed into the good train in a loop line.

Just after five minutes after the collision, The Bengaluru -Howrah Express coming from another direction banged into derailed compartments of The Coromandel Train.

Effects of Accident

At least 295 people are killed in this accident, and 1,175 people are severely injured.
The death toll number is likely to Increase sensing the severity of the accident

The Government has provided health facilities and all amenities to victims.
The Odisha disaster management team was on the spot of the accident to rescue people safely.

The railway spokesman Amitabh said that the rescue process is over. We would start with restoration work now, so that rest of train could start functioning that were halted due to Accident.

PM Narendra Modi visited the Accident site and hospital along with other Union ministers.
He assured that those whose found guilty, will be punished stringently.

PM Narendra Modi expressed his distress and Announced compensation of 2 Lakh to the family who lost their member in an accident and 50,000 to the Injured people from the PMNRF Fund.

Railway minister also announced Ex -gratia compensation to the victim of this unfortunate train accident in Odisha ;10 Lakh rupees in case of death,2 lakh rupees towards grievous and 50,000 Rupees for Minor Injuries.

Ashwini Vaishnaw also stated ‘A High-level committee would be set up to probe the Train accident’.

The survivors and eyewitnesses to the incident expressed the traumatic experience and chaotic scenes at the time of the accident. They appreciated the efforts of the government and people nearby that helped during a tough time
